Alumna Receives DFL Endorsement for Governor
Margaret Anderson Kelliher, a 1990 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College and current Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives, received the Democratic Farmer Labor party endorsement for governor on Saturday night in Duluth at the party's convention.
Gustavus Hosting State Speech Tournament Friday and Saturday
Gustavus Adolphus College is hosting the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) state speech tournament April 23-24. The Class AA tournament is scheduled for Friday, April 23, while the Class A tournament will take place Saturday, April 24.
Classics Department to Host Lecture in Honor of Will Freiert
The Department of Classics at Gustavus Adolphus College will host a lecture at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 8 in honor of Professor Will Freiert, who is retiring at the end of the academic year after devoting 38 years of service to the College.

David Tilman, a prominent American ecologist and a Regent’s Professor and McKnight Presidential Chair in Ecology at the University of Minnesota, will give a free public lecture at Gustavus Adolphus College at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 14.
Gustavus to Celebrate Student Research and Scholarship
Gustavus Adolphus College will hold its annual Celebration of Creative Inquiry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 30. This campus-wide forum is a way for students to publicly share their research and scholarship from the current academic year.
Johnson’s Fulbright Award Renewed for 2010-11
Cindy Johnson, professor of biology and environmental studies at Gustavus Adolphus College, recently received notice that her Fulbright Scholar grant has been renewed for a second year. The grant has allowed Johnson to teach and conduct research in Tanzania during the 2009-10 academic year.
Gustavus Hires New Tenure Track Faculty
Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to announce the hiring of four new tenure-track faculty members who will begin their teaching duties at the onset of the 2010-11 academic year.
Gustavus Named a Green College by The Princeton Review
Gustavus Adolphus College is one of the country’s most environmentally responsible colleges according to The Princeton Review. The nationally-known education services company selected Gustavus for inclusion in a unique resource it has created for college applicants called “The Princeton Review’s Guide to 286 Green Colleges.”
Patty Dawson Receives Distinguished Service Award
Patty Dawson, a licensed practical nurse for the Gustavus Adolphus College Student Health Service, received the first annual Distinguished Service Award from Crime Victim Services, Inc. on Monday, April 19.
