Alumna to Lecture on Swedish Immigrant Women in America

Dr. Joy Lintelman, a 1980 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College and current Professor of History at Concordia College, Moorhead, will return to her alma mater Thursday, Feb. 25 to deliver a free public lecture titled “Having Things Better: Swedish Immigrant Women in America.”

Women’s Basketball Clinches Share of MIAC Title

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team clinched a share of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship on Wednesday night with a 66-56 victory over St. Thomas at Gus Young Court.

Easter Bunny Breakfast Set for March 6

Gustavus Library Associates (GLA) will host its annual Breakfast with the Easter Bunny from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6 at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.

Gustavus Adolphus College recently earned recognition as a top social media innovator in higher education according to the website CollegeSurfing.com. Gustavus is one of nine Gold Medal Winners and among an elite list of 50 colleges and universities that are considered gold, silver, or bronze worthy by the website.

St. Peter Reads Announces 2010 Winter Read Selection

Unity in Community-St. Peter Reads has announced that the novel False Mermaid by Erin Hart has been chosen as the 2010 Winter Read. Hart will be in St. Peter Tuesday, March 16 for a writing workshop, book signing, and atmospheric reading.

Huff’s Play Emil’s Enemies to be Performed in Santa Fe

Emil’s Enemies, a play written by Gustavus Adolphus College Professor of Philosophy Doug Huff, will be performed at the James A. Little Theater in Santa Fe, N.M., in late February.

Annual Building Bridges Conference to Focus on Immigration

Gustavus Adolphus College will host its 15th annual Building Bridges Conference Saturday, March 13. The theme of this year’s conference is “Immigration: Surviving the Land of Opportunity” and will focus on the struggles immigrants face and the strength required to survive those struggles on a daily basis.

Day at the Capitol Scheduled for March 4

Students, alumni, faculty and administrators from Gustavus Adolphus College will gather at the state Capitol on Thursday, March 4 to advocate for need-based student financial aid.

Men’s Hockey Team to Honor Brendan Loney on Friday

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s hockey team will play host to the Hamline Pipers on Friday, February 12 and prior to the start of the game, the team will honor teammate Brendan Loney, a forward from Maple Grove, Minnesota, who was injured in a diving accident in July 2009.

Hillstrom Museum Presents New Exhibitions Feb. 15

The Hillstrom Museum of Art at Gustavus Adolphus College will host the exhibition Elmyr de Hory, Artist and Faker from Feb. 15 through April 18. An opening reception will take place Monday, Feb. 15 from 7 to 9 p.m.
