  • Orchestra Concert Sunday Afternoon

    Both of Gustavus’s large string ensembles will perform in concert at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011 in Christ Chapel. The concert includes the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, under Conductor Ruth Lin, and the Gustavus Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Justin Knoepfel. Sunday’s orchestra concert is free and open to the public.

    Come to Gustavus this weekend for the annual spring dance concert, highlighting faculty and student work, and for two faculty piano recitals. All of these events are open to the public.

  • Weekend Fine Arts Events

    Following successful winter concert tours, the Gustavus Wind Orchestra and the Gustavus Choir will present their Home Concerts on Saturday, Feb. 12 in Christ Chapel at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.Both concerts are free and open to the public. There’s also a USAF Brass concert on Sunday, Feb. 13.

    The Gustavus Choir, the premier choral ensemble at Gustavus Adolphus College as well as one of the nation’s premier Lutheran college choirs, will embark on a nine-day, eight-concert tour on the West Coast March 21-28.

    Long-time professor of music at Gustavus Adolphus College, John McKay, returns to Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall Saturday, September 20, to present the first recital of the new school year at 7:30 p.m.

  • Gustavus to Celebrate All-Steinway Distinction

    Gustavus Adolphus College will celebrate its place on the “All-Steinway Schools” list with a dedication piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 4 at Jussi Björling Recital Hall. Seniors Ryan Ike, Phil Sowden, Beth Stauffer, Brianna Vaa, and Alex Zupan will all perform pieces at the dedication.

  • Mirth Jam To Feature Comedy and Musical Acts

    Comedians, including Shannan Paul and Wayne Burfiene, along with improv comedy troupes and bands from Minnesota are gathering for a day of entertainment at Gustavus Adolphus College on March 11. Mirth Jam will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. in the college’s Alumni Hall, located in the O.J. Johnson Student Union.
