Mirth Jam To Feature Comedy and Musical Acts

Comedians, including Shannan Paul and Wayne Burfiene, along with improv comedy troupes and bands from Minnesota are gathering for a day of entertainment at Gustavus Adolphus College on March 11. Mirth Jam will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. in the college's Alumni Hall, located in the O.J. Johnson Student Union.

$1 Million Gift for Music Scholarships

This week, Gustavus Adolphus College received a gift in excess of $1 million to endowed music scholarships from Walter L. Youngquist '42 of Eugene, Ore., in honor of his wife, Elizabeth Pearson Youngquist '42.

Gustavus Music Showcase to be Presented at Orchestra Hall

Gustavus Adolphus College and the Department of Music are taking the Gustavus Music Showcase 2006 to Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis on Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. The showcase will feature the College's three premier international touring ensembles—the Gustavus Choir, the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, and the Gustavus Wind Orchestra.

Make-A-Wish Mentor, Cancer Survivor Perform Together — Again

Johanna Johnson, a senior at Gustavus Adolphus College, will perform her final recital on April 29 — accompanied by Joe Robinson, principal oboist for the New York Philharmonic. Johnson and Robinson have remained in close contact following their 1999 meeting through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
