Changing Food World Lecture March 2

Author and professor Psyche Williams-Forson will visit Gustavus on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Her lecture, titled "Bet Your Bottom Dollar: Expanding the Concept of Alternatives in a Changing Food World, is part of Gustavus's Global Insight 2010-2011 program on food and will be at 7 p.m. in F.W. Olin Hall, room 103. The lecture will discuss dollar stores, and other similar “value markets,” as a way to broaden the discussion of concepts like “sustainability” and “food access.”

VIDEO: A Sustainable Advantage

Gustavus is a place that truly wants to make a difference in the world. One way the institution and its community members do that is in the area of food and sustainability. Online there's a new, unsolicited video story featuring Gustavus Adolphus College's sustainability efforts in the food/dining area, which was done by the St. Paul-based non-profit organization Minnesota 2020.

Reading in Common Author John Pomfret Will Visit Campus

Gustavus Adolphus College will welcome author John Pomfret to campus Monday, Sept. 15. Pomfret, the author of this year's Reading in Common book, Chinese Lessons: Five Classmates and the Story of the New China, will speak at 7 p.m. in Christ Chapel.

Global Insight Program to Host Teach-in on China

Gustavus Global Insight, a campus-wide themed learning program at Gustavus Adolphus College, will sponsor a teach-in on China from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11. The teach-in will take place in The Dive, located on the lower level of the O.J. Johnson Student Union.

Gustavus Introduces Annual Themed Learning Program

In September 2008, Gustavus Adolphus College will inaugurate an annual, campuswide themed learning program, named Gustavus Global Insight, designed to increase cultural awareness and international competency.
