Ten Communication Studies majors from Gustavus Adolphus College presented individual research projects at the 19th annual University of Saint Thomas Undergraduate Communication Research Conference on Friday, April 23.

Entrepreneur, writer, and historian Bill Hakala will be at Gustavus Adolphus College on Tuesday, April 27 to give a talk titled “The Evolution of ‘Now’: Real World Storytelling about Today’s Institutions.” Hakala will speak at 4:30 p.m. in Linner Lounge, located in the O.J. Johnson Student Union.

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s tennis team defeated St. Thomas 7-2 and Bethel 9-0 on Saturday, April 24 to clinch at least a share of the MIAC regular season championship. It is the 22nd consecutive MIAC regular season title for the team, and the first for first-year head coach Tommy Valentini.

David Tilman, a prominent American ecologist and a Regent’s Professor and McKnight Presidential Chair in Ecology at the University of Minnesota, will give a free public lecture at Gustavus Adolphus College at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 14.

Gustavus Adolphus College will hold its annual Celebration of Creative Inquiry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 30. This campus-wide forum is a way for students to publicly share their research and scholarship from the current academic year.

Cindy Johnson, professor of biology and environmental studies at Gustavus Adolphus College, recently received notice that her Fulbright Scholar grant has been renewed for a second year. The grant has allowed Johnson to teach and conduct research in Tanzania during the 2009-10 academic year.
