Day at the Capitol Scheduled for March 5

Hundreds of students and financial aid supporters from Gustavus Adolphus College and other Minnesota private colleges and universities will gather at the state Capitol this spring to advocate for need-based student financial aid. Gustavus’ Day at the Capitol will be shared with Hamline University and St. Mary’s University and is scheduled for Thursday, March 5.

Gustavus Theatre to Present <i>The Other Shore</i>

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Gustavus Adolphus College will present The Other Shore, a play written by Nobel Prize winner Gao Xingjian. Directed by Amy Seham and featuring choreography by Melissa Rolnick, performances will be held in Anderson Theatre Feb. 19-22.

Birr Qualifies for Olympic Trials in Curling

Gustavus Adolphus College Assistant Catering Manager Kevin Birr has qualified for the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in curling. Birr and teammates Todd Birr, Paul Pustovar, and Greg Wilson qualified for the trials by earning one of three spots available at the East Regional in Brookline, Mass., on Jan. 10.

Longtime basketball and golf coach at Gustavus Adolphus College, Whitey Skoog, will have his jersey retired by the University of Minnesota at halftime of the Gophers’ game against Northwestern on Feb. 22.

Vice President for Enrollment Management Announces Plans to Retire

Gustavus Adolphus College Vice President for Enrollment Management Mark Anderson has announced his plans to retire on May 31, 2010. Anderson will serve as Dean of Admission during the 2009-10 academic year while the College commences a national search for his replacement.
