  • Commencement Scheduled for June 2

    At 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, the class of 2013 will receive their bachelor of arts degrees from Gustavus Adolphus College during commencement exercises at Hollingsworth Field. Senior Julia Tindell, who will receive her degree in English, will deliver this year’s commencement address.

    A unique educational partnership between Gustavus Adolphus College and Coca-Cola allows students to apply for grant money to fund initiatives that focus on enhancing sustainability and community health.   • Barb Zust Named Finalist for 2013 Outstanding Nurses Awards

    Gustavus Adolphus College Professor of Nursing Barbara Zust ’76 has been named a finalist for the 2013 Outstanding Nurses Awards, presented by Mpls. St. Paul Magazine. Zust is a finalist in the “Nurse Educator” category along with Jeff Paurus of Minneapolis Community and Technical College and Wendy Dahl of Regions Hospital.

  • James Trevathan ’14 Named Rossing Physics Scholar

    Junior James Trevathan ’14 has been named a Rossing Physics Scholar for the 2013-14 academic year. Earlier this spring, the physics major from Apple Valley received a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship.

  • Jason Haaheim ’01: Conquering Music and Science

    After graduating from Gustavus in 2001 with a double major in honors music and physics, Jason Haaheim didn’t stop learning and he didn’t stop pursuing his dreams. After earning a master’s degree and spending 10 successful years as a scientist, Haaheim is now the Principal Timpanist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York.

  • Spring Issue of Firethorne Now Available

    The Spring 2013 issue of Firethorne – the student literary and graphic arts magazine at Gustavus Adolphus College – will be unveiled Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m. in the Courtyard Café. Refreshments will be served at the event and several students will read from their work.
