Cadi Kadlecek Named Outstanding New Forensic Coach at AFA-NIET

Cadi Kadlecek, Associate Director of the Forensics Program at Gustavus Adolphus College, was awarded the Outstanding New Forensic Coach Award at the American Forensic Association’s National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET), which was held April 5-8 in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Cadi Kadlecek, Associate Director of the Forensics Program at Gustavus Adolphus College, was awarded the Outstanding New Forensic Coach Award at the American Forensic Association’s National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET), which was held April 5-8 in Hutchinson, Kansas. She is the first forensic coach at Gustavus to receive the award.

Criteria for the award include that the coach is in his/her first seven years of coaching, that the coach shows leadership in innovations in forensics and qualities as a forensic educator.

One of Kadlecek’s letters of recommendation for the award stated that “Cadi Kadlecek is a remarkable person, instructor, and colleague, and she is a strong ambassador for the activity. Cadi’s commitment to education, her willingness to mentor students across the country, and her innovative coaching philosophy make her deserving of being awarded as the NIET Outstanding New Forensics Coach.”

Kadlecek started coaching the Gustavus forensic program in 2010 and has helped the team earn three straight top 10 finishes at the AFA-NIET, and a national championship at the 2012 National Forensic Association’s (NFA) National Tournament.

Kadlecek holds a bachelor’s degree from Hastings College, where she also won a national championship in Prose Interpretation while a member of the forensics team. She also holds a master’s degree in communication studies from Illinois State University.
