Healthcare, education, government, finance, big brands—we’re there.
Gusties are everywhere. But we are in some places more than others. One of those places is Minnesota (obviously). Minnesota Gusties are working hard to make Minnesota’s economy one of the healthiest in the nation.
As a state, Minnesota has more Fortune 500 companies per capita than any other, so it’s no surprise you’ll find Gusties at some of America’s largest corporate brands, specifically Target, 3M, General Mills, and IBM.
As a state, we are consistently ranked among the top five for healthcare, too. You’ll find Gusties excelling at UnitedHealth Group (the Minnesota employer with the largest number of Gusties, it ranked 14th on the Fortune 500 list in 2016), Mayo Clinic, Allina, and the University of Minnesota Medical Center, among others.
One surprise? One of the largest employers of Gustavus graduates is Gustavus Adolphus College. Apparently it’s not only a great school, it’s also a great place to work. (But we could be biased.)

What is the distinction in separating out Abbott Northwestern Hospital from Allina Health in this list?
Abbott Northwestern as a subset had a high number of Gusties employed, higher than those entities that fall below it. We merged two sets of data and together they showed that Abbott Northwestern represented enough Gusties to pull out separately. We could have merged Abbott Northwestern in with Allina Health, which would have pushed Allina up a bit, but we thought it notable and interesting as separate. Great question. Thanks!
