Commencement Recap: 616 Graduates Receive Degrees
Near perfect weather graced the Gustavus Adolphus College campus on Sunday, May 31 for the College's 2015 commencement exercises. Six hundred and sixteen seniors walked across the stage and received their degrees at Hollingsworth Field.
David Obermiller Receives Edgar M. Carlson Award
Gustavus Adolphus College Associate Professor of History, Environmental Studies, and Japanese Studies David Obermiller, received the 2015 Edgar M. Carlson Award for Distinguished Teaching during the College’s commencement exercises on Sunday, May 31.
Professor Mimi Gerstbauer Serving as Fulbright Scholar in Poland
Dr. Mimi Gerstbauer, Associate Professor of Political Science and Peace Studies at Gustavus Adolphus College, has spent the last several months in Poland, after being awarded a U.S. Fulbright Scholar grant for 2014-15.
Dr. Brenda Kelly Named Interim Associate Provost and Dean of Sciences and Education
Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biology Brenda Kelly has been named Interim Associate Provost and Dean of Sciences and Education at Gustavus Adolphus College. Kelly will begin her 10-month tenure in the Provost’s Office in July.
Senior Rosalie Repke Chosen as Commencement Speaker
Gustavus Adolphus College senior Rosalie Repke has been chosen by a committee of faculty, staff, and students to speak at the College’s commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 31 at Hollingsworth Field. A native of Orono, Minn., Repke will graduate with degrees in management and political science.
Jace Riggin ’16: A Champion for Justice in His Home State
While growing up in Devils Lake, North Dakota, Gustavus Adolphus College junior Jace Riggin ’16 says he was an “outsider” for many reasons. Today, Riggin is using his life experiences and passion for justice to help others in his hometown who might consider themselves as “outsiders”.
MJ Sun ’15 Takes Unique Path to Veterinary School
Gustavus Adolphus College senior MJ Sun '15 will graduate on May 31 with degrees in nursing and biology. In the fall, she will begin veterinary school at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Commencement Scheduled for May 31
At 2 p.m. Sunday, May 31, members of the class of 2015 will receive their bachelor of arts degrees from Gustavus Adolphus College during commencement exercises at Hollingsworth Field. Senior Rosalie Repke of Orono, Minnesota, will deliver this year’s commencement address.
Dr. Darrin Good Named VP of Academic Affairs at Whittier
Gustavus Adolphus College Provost and Dean of the College Mark Braun announced Monday that Dr. Darrin Good would be leaving his post as Associate Provost and Dean of Sciences and Education in mid-June to assume the role of Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty at Whittier College in California.
Students Compete in Inaugural Gustie Entrepreneur Cup
This spring, students in Professor Marta Podemska-Mikluch’s upper level Entrepreneurship course developed original entrepreneurial ventures, wrote and submitted business plans, and pitched their projects to a panel of invited judges as part of the inaugural Gustie Entrepreneur Cup.
