The College is proud to announce that thanks to the generosity and dedication of many alumni, parents, and friends, Give to Gustavus Day raised a total of $65,446 for the Gustavus Annual Fund. The online giving campaign was held Wednesday, Nov. 13, with a goal of raising $24,000 in 24 hours. Anonymous donors gave $20,000 in matching dollars to provide an additional incentive to celebrate the day.
“Thank you to everyone who gave yesterday in support of the College said Thomas Young ’88, Vice President for Advancement. “We are very pleased that our community has beaten the goal two years in a row.”
Over 90% of Gustavus students receive some sort of financial aid and 70% of those are needs-based. The Gustavus Annual Fund helps students and families cover the cost of the Gustavus experience and it also supports all current operational needs of the institution. Yesterday more than 200 donors gave to support the following areas: greatest need (53%), scholarship (20%), athletics (11%), music (9%), and faculty resources (7%).
Give to Gustavus Day was inspired by Minnesota’s Give to the Max Day as a way for the Gustavus community to come together online in support of the College.
“It’s great to see so many people come together to support Gustavus. This event raises Gustie spirit and also brings donations into the Gustavus Annual Fund,” said Young. “We are blessed to have a community of donors who support the mission of the College.”
