Junior James Trevathan Wins Goldwater Scholarship

Gustavus Adolphus College junior physics major James Trevathan is the recipient of a 2013 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, the premier undergraduate award for students pursuing careers in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering. Trevathan, an Apple Valley native, is the 19th Gustavus student since 1992 to receive a Goldwater Scholarship.

Forensics Team Places 8th at National Tournament

The Gustavus Adolphus College forensics team earned its best ever finish at the American Forensic Association’s National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET), when it placed eighth in the Team Sweepstakes on Monday, April 8. The team has now placed in the top 10 at the tournament in each of the past four years.

Matt Swenson ’06 made the most of his four years at Gustavus Adolphus College and left the hill inspired to change lives through a career in public service. Today, he serves as Communications Advisor to Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton and has a bright future ahead of him.
