Joan Steffend is one of two keynote speakers at this year’s Gustavus Women In Leadership Conference.

The 3rd annual Gustavus Women in Leadership Conference, “Are You For Real? The Importance of Authenticity,” will be held on Friday, April 19 at the American Swedish Institute in St. Paul. This year’s conference will feature keynote speakers Marcia Page ’82 and Joan Steffend, along with several other business professionals who will lead various breakout sessions.

Tickets for the conference can be purchased online at gustavustickets.com. Ticket prices are $25 for students, $75 for the general public until April 1, and $100 for the general public from April 2-12.

Marcia Page ’82 is Founder, Managing Partner, and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Värde Partners – a leading alternative investment manager specializing in credit, distressed and special situation investing in a wide range of public and private assets, with more than $7 billion assets under management. Page shares responsibility for setting global investment strategy, fundraising and client relations, and managing the firm. She specializes in corporate and special situation investing and oversees corporate investing in Europe. Under her leadership, Varde has invested billions of dollars in publicly-traded securities and private transactions, and has been actively involved in a wide range of corporate restructurings and reorganizations. Page also volunteers on Campaign Gustavus’s Major Gifts Committee.

Joan Steffend is a familiar name to most Minnesotans as she has spent almost 30 years in the media, first as a national Emmy-winning news anchor at the NBC affiliate KARE-11, and then as a top-rated national host on HGTV’s Decorating Cents. Today, Steffand is a publish author. Her first book, And She Sparkled, was published in 2010 and her latest, Peace in Peace Out, came out in the fall of 2012. She is also co-founder of the non-profit organization, Peace Begins With Me, a humanitarian organization dedicated to inner peace.

This conference is organized by Gustavus Women In Leadership, a student/alumnae program that seeks to help the women of Gustavus in their academic, professional, and personal leadership development. Gustavus students Rachelle Blaschko ’15 and Ashley Michalko ’14 are co-chairs of the Conference.
