Rev. Rodney L. Anderson Named Interim Senior Chaplain

Gustavus Adolphus College President Jack R. Ohle announced Sunday, May 15 that the Rev. Rodney L. Anderson has been named Interim Senior College Chaplain, effective July 15.

Women’s Golf Team Places Second at NCAA Championships

The Gustavus Adolphus College women's golf team took second place at the Division III NCAA Championships, which were held May 10-13 at Mission Inn Resort in Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Gustavus to Host Theological Debate on May 15

Gustavus Adolphus College will host a debate titled “Can We Be Good Without God?” Friday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m in Alumni Hall, located in the O.J. Johnson Student Union. Dan Barker, co-president of the Freedom from Religion Foundation, and Christian Apologist Jon Kaus of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will argue two sides of the question.

Vice President Freed Named Executive Director of Wallin Education Partners

Gustavus Adolphus College Vice President for Marketing and Communication Gwendolyn Freed will depart Gustavus to assume the position of Executive Director of Wallin Education Partners, effective July 1.

Dugdale Receives Faculty Scholarly Achievement Award

Eric Dugdale, associate professor of classics at Gustavus Adolphus College, received the 2011 Faculty Scholarly Achievement Award on May 7 at the College’s Honors Day Convocation.

Esther Menn to Speak at Annual George Hall Lecture

Esther Menn, the Marilyn and Ralph Klein Chair of Old Testament Studies and Director of Advanced Studies at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Chicago will give the 2011 George Hall Lecture at Gustavus Adolphus College at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12.

Faculty Symposium in Honor of Chaplain Brian Johnson May 12

A faculty symposium in honor of Chaplain Brian Johnson will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 12 in the Melva Lind Interpretive Center. The event will be a celebration of Johnson’s contributions to the intellectual life of Gustavus during his 15-year tenure at the College as he prepares for new challenges in his new position at Valparaiso University next fall.

Celebration of Creative Inquiry Set for May 6

Gustavus Adolphus College will hold its fourth annual Celebration of Creative Inquiry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 6 in the banquet rooms of the C. Charles Jackson Campus Center. This campus-wide forum is a way for students to publicly share their research and scholarship from the current academic year.

Diversity Awards Banquet May 14

Gustavus Adolphus College will host its annual Diversity Awards Banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 14 in Alumni Hall, located in the O.J. Johnson Student Union.

Tennis Teams Continue MIAC Dominance

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s and women’s tennis teams have each secured their respective MIAC regular season championships and will both enter this weekend’s MIAC Playoffs as the No. 1 seed.
