Tennis Teams Continue MIAC Dominance

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s and women’s tennis teams have each secured their respective MIAC regular season championships and will both enter this weekend’s MIAC Playoffs as the No. 1 seed.

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s and women’s tennis teams have each secured their respective MIAC regular season championships and will both enter this weekend’s MIAC Playoffs as the No. 1 seed.

The Gustavus women’s tennis team closed out its regular season schedule on Tuesday, May 3 with a 9-0 victory over St. Olaf to improve to 10-0 in MIAC play and win its 20th consecutive MIAC regular season title. The program has now won 205 straight regular season conference matches – a streak that dates back to the 1991 season.

The Gustavus men’s tennis team earned its 23rd consecutive MIAC regular season title by finishing a perfect 9-0 in conference play. The team clinched the title outright when it defeated Macalester 9-0 on Saturday, April 30.

Gustavus will host both the men’s and women’s MIAC playoffs on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 at the Brown Outdoor Tennis Complex.

The Gustavus women’s tennis team will face the lowest remaining seeded team in one semifinal at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 7.

The men’s championship match is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on May 7, while the women’s title match will be played at 4 p.m. on May 7.
