Gustavus to Host Violence Prevention Training Sessions Posted on April 11th, 2011 by

The organization Men Can Stop Rape, Inc., will lead two violence prevention seminars at Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday, April 13 in Alumni Hall. A seminar from 5-6:15 p.m. is open to all faculty, staff, and administrators. A second seminar from 7-8:30 p.m. is open to all Gustavus students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Both seminars are free to attend.

Men Can Stop Rape (MCSR) is an international organization that mobilizes men to use their strength for creating cultures free from violence, especially men’s violence against women. MCSR has trained more than 9,000 youth-serving professionals and provided technical assistance to more than 200 agencies and organizations. It has delivered its programming to college men’s groups, Greeks, athletes, residence hall staffs, and higher education students of all kinds.

MCSR will instruct men how they can help prevent violence against women and explain how women can support men so that everyone can work toward social change. In contrast to traditional efforts that address men as “the problem,” MCSR embraces men as vital allies with the will and character to make healthy choices and foster safe, equitable relationships.

This event is being sponsored by M-Pact, Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies Department, Center for Servant-Leadership, Campus Activities Board, Peer Assistant’s, Religion Department, Sexual Assault Response Team, Dean of Student’s Office, and the President’s Office.
