Canceled: WinterRead Author Event for March 8 Posted on March 1st, 2011 by

Blind Your Ponies book cover. Author to speak at Gustavus March 8.

Updated March 4, 2011:  Due to illness, this March 8 visiting author event has been canceled.

The 8th Annual WinterRead event, slated for March 8, 2011 and featuring Blind Your Ponies’ author Stanley Gordon West, will NOT be held. West was to visit St. Peter Tuesday, March 8, 2011, for a book signing at the St. Peter Library and a talk at the Melva Lind Interpretive Center.

Stanley Gordon West has made a name for himself through self publishing. West originally self-published Blind Your Ponies 10 years ago and drove around to bookstore and book conventions selling his books out of his car. He was so successful that he sold 40,000 copies, which caught book publishers’ attention.

His book, Blind Your Ponies, is a story about the small town of Willow Creek, Mont., and its “going-to-state” basketball team.

The book is available at the Gustavus Book Mark and on loan at other locations throughout town, including the laundromat, MVAC offices, Nicollet County Public Health, the county jail, and the Senior Center.

For more information on this event cancelation or the work of St. Peter Reads, contact Judy Schultz at judy@gustavus.edu or 507-933-6017.
