The Gustavus women’s hockey team continued its winning ways on Saturday night, Feb. 26, 2011, with an impressive 8-1 win over Augsburg in Minneapolis. With the win, the Gusties claimed their 7th straight MIAC regular season title with a record of 14-2-2.
With this win, Gustavus earned the #1 seed in the MIAC Playoffs and will host the winner of the first round playoff game between St. Olaf and Concordia next Thursday at the Don Roberts Ice Rink.
The Gusties have now claimed 10 regular season league titles in the 16 years history of MIAC women’s hockey. During its streak of 7 consecutive titles Gustavus has compiled an impressive record of 113-7-6 for a winning percentage of .920.
Coach Mike Carroll and his squad will now turn their attention to winning their 8th consecutive MIAC Playoff Title and earning the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Gusties are the only program to have appeared in all 12 MIAC Post-Season Tournaments. Gustavus has won 8 of the 12 MIAC Post-Season Tournaments and compiled a record of 20-4-2 for a .807 winning percentage.
