Closing Reception for Artist Liz Miller Posted on January 26th, 2011 by

Liz Miller's installation is on display in the Schaeffer Fine Arts Gallery.

The Department of Art and Art History will host a closing reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27 in the Schaeffer Fine Arts Gallery to recognize artist Liz Miller and her work, which has been on display during the month of January.

The reception will also celebrate artwork created by Gustavus students in the January Interim Experience course “Three Dimensional Drawing,” which is being taught by Visiting Professor of Art Nicole Roberts Hoiland.

Miller is an artist who hails from Good Thunder, Minn., and serves as Assistant Professor of Drawing/Foundations at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Inspired by systems that contain examples of simultaneous order and chaos, Miller’s mixed media, wall-based installations reference biology, natural disasters, and computer imagery.

Miller holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and a master of fine arts degree in drawing and painting from the University of Minnesota. Her work has been shown in galleries, museums, and libraries throughout the world in cities such as London, Toronto, Edmonton, Minneapolis, Fort Collins, Virginia Beach, Omaha, South Bend and many others.
