Gustavus Adolphus College is once again rated a top college, in The Princeton Review’s guidebook, The Best 373 Colleges, 2011 Edition. This annual ranking, released Aug. 2, 2010, is based solely on input from college students.
The educational services publication recognizes 373 colleges in the nation for offering outstanding academics and great campus experiences. Gustavus was also ranked among 152 Midwest colleges that The Princeton Review recognized as “Best Colleges: Region by Region.” As in past years, the publication also gave the College high marks for campus food, ranking it 18th nationally in that category.
“We are pleased that students rate Gustavus highly in a ranking of this kind,” said Gustavus President Jack R. Ohle. “Everyone works hard at the College to deliver the best academic and co-curricular experiences possible, and the students themselves make our institution a great place to be.”
In its description of Gustavus, The Princeton Review quotes a student, who describes the College as “a school that fosters a close community between the students, staff, and faculty and strives to prepare the students academically and vocationally for the post-college world.”
Ranked 18th nationally by The Princeton Review, Gustavus’s Dining Service has often received acclaim not only for its great tasting offerings, but also for its promotion of nutrition, environmental sustainability, and community.
“It is particularly gratifying that the Princeton Review rankings arise from student supplied data—the very best and most honest source of critical feedback,” said Steve Kjellgren, Gustavus’s dining service director. “Our efforts to complement the excellence of the entire Gustavus experience and to be forward-thinking leaders in the college dining realm have certainly paid off and will continue in earnest.”
