Gustavus's No. 1 singles player Sierra Krebsbach returns a two-handed backhand in her match against Carleton's Kathryn Schmidt.

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s tennis team captured its 19th consecutive MIAC regular season title with a 6-3 win over Carleton on Saturday, May 1 at the Swanson Tennis Center. The Gusties took four of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to secure the victory.

The win moves the team’s MIAC record to 10-0 and its overall record to 29-10. Gustavus has now won 195 consecutive matches against MIAC foes in regular season play, a streak which dates back to the 1991 season.

Megan Gaard won her tenth consecutive MIAC singles match to stay unbeaten against conference opponents. Gaard defeated Carleton’s Frances Leung at the No. 4 singles position in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.

Ali O’Neal also capped off a perfect season in conference play with her ninth singles victory of the season. O’Neal defeated Carleton’s Sarah Thappa at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-2.

Sam Frank and Alex Erickson also won their matches at No. 3 and No. 6 singles respectively.

In the doubles matches, the Gustavus tandem Gaard and Marianne Barau won their tenth match of the MIAC regular season at the No. 2 doubles position to finish the season with an unblemished mark of 10-0.

The pairing of O’Neal and Maria Bryan defeated their sixth different conference opponent at No. 3 doubles to also finish undefeated on the season.

The Gusties will now look ahead to next weekend’s MIAC Playoffs as the top seeded team in the tournament. The tournament will be hosted by Gustavus.
