Homecoming Week and Family Weekend Events Scheduled

Gustavus Adolphus College will kick-off its Homecoming Week festivities on Monday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. in the Evelyn Young Dining Room. Student organizations will participate in a window painting competition and the group Dim Light Shining will provide live music.

The week will feature many traditional events such as alumni reunions, a homecoming parade, music concerts, workshop sessions, athletic events, and much more. For more information on specific events, go online to the Gustavus calendar at gustavus.edu/calendar.

The following is a list of events that will take place throughout Homecoming Week and Family Weekend:

Tuesday, Oct. 6

  • Trivia in the Caf / 7-8:30 p.m. / Evelyn Young Dining Room 

 Wednesday, Oct. 7

  • Scarecrow Contest / 12 p.m. / Linnaeus Arboretum (Contest runs through Oct. 9)
  • Ari Herstand Concert / 7-8 p.m. / Alumni Hall
  • One Hit Wonders Lip-Sync Contest / 8-9 p.m. / Alumni Hall

Thursday, Oct. 8

  • Dodgeball Tournament / 7-8 p.m. / Lund Forum

Friday, Oct. 9

  • Variety Show and Homecoming Coronation / 8:30-10 p.m. / Alumni Hall

Saturday, Oct. 10

  • 5K Fun Run / 8:30 a.m. / Three Flags
  • Linnaeus Arboretum Fall Fest / 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. / Linnaeus Arboretum
  • Class Reunion Tents (’69, ’74, ’79, ’84, ’89, ’94, ’99, and ’04) / 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. / Outside of Hollingsworth Field
  • Michael and the Sundogs Concert / 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. / Outside of Hollingsworth Field
  • Homecoming Parade / 11:30 a.m. / Ring Road
  • Homecoming Carnival Luncheon / 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. / Evelyn Young Dining Room
  • Football Game vs. Pacific Lutheran University / 1 p.m. / Hollingsworth Field
  • 5th Quarter Postgame Event / 3:30-7 p.m. / Old Hollingsworth Field (Tickets are $10)
  • Kurt Elling and the Laurence Hogbood Trio in Concert / 8-10:30 p.m. / Bjorling Recital Hall (Tickets are $20 for the general public and $8 for Gustavus students)
