Men’s Hockey Advances to Frozen Four

The Gustavus men’s hockey team will be making its first appearance at the Division III Frozen Four since 1982.

The Gustavus men’s hockey team will be making its first appearance at the Division III Frozen Four since 1982.

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s hockey team defeated UW-Superior 2-0 in an NCAA quarterfinal game on Saturday, March 14 to advance to the NCAA Division III Frozen Four in Lake Placid, N.Y.

First year student Ross Ring-Jarvi and junior David Martinson scored the two goals for the Gusties. Senior goaltender Matt Lopes made 33 saves in net to hand UW-Superior its first shutout of the season.

The Gusties are now 18-10 on the season and will be making the program’s first appearance in the Frozen Four since 1982. The Gusties will face UW-Stout in a national semifinal on Friday, March 20.
