Jason Lezak

Three-time Olympic gold medalist Jason Lezak will speak at Gustavus Adolphus College at 8 p.m. Sunday, March 8 in Alumni Hall, located in the College’s O.J. Johnson Student Union.

Lezak will speak about what it means to be an Olympic athlete, answer questions from audience members, and sign autographs at the conclusion of his speech.

Lezak won gold medals at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing in both the 4 x 100 meter medley relay and the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay. Lezak anchored the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay team that set a new world record. In that race, Lezak made up a considerable distance against the team from France, and in the process kept U.S. teammate Michael Phelps’ hopes alive of winning a record eight gold medals in one Olympics.

Lezak won the bronze medal in the individual 100 meter freestyle race at the Beijing games. He also earned gold and bronze medals in the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

This event is sponsored by the Gustavus Campus Activities Board and is open to members of the Gustavus community. For more information, call the Student Activities Office at 507-933-7598.
