A Gustavus Adolphus College January Interim Experience class taught by Assistant Professor of Political Science Kate Knutson is currently in the nation’s capital where they will witness the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

The class is called “Inauguration Politics: Washington, D.C.” After spending six days on-campus in the classroom, Knutson and 15 students are making Washington their classroom Jan. 13-26.

Besides attending inaugural events, the class is taking advantage of the many educational opportunities that are available in Washington. During the course of two weeks the class will tour the U.S. Capitol, the U.S. Supreme Court building, the U.S. Department of State, the Washington Monument, and National Public Radio headquarters. The class will also visit with Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar and make stops at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and the American History Museum.
