Gustavus invites you to nominate a junior high or high school student who provides outstanding leadership and service in his or her school or community for the Gustavus Adolphus College Extraordinary Fan of the Game. Honorees will be recognized at 2005 St. Paul Saints baseball games.

For the second consecutive year, Gustavus celebrates extraordinary youth with its Extraordinary Fan of the Game promotion with the St. Paul Saints. Unlike other wacky between-inning activities Saints games are known for, this is a chance to honor extraordinary young people by publicly recognizing excellence in leadership, service, or community. Each award recipient is honored during a home game.

Honorees from last year include a National Merit Scholar, a high school baseball pitcher who threw a no-hitter, and a brother and sister who were diagnosed with a disease that will leave them both blind.

“We take great pride in recognizing these students who are leaders and servers in their schools, churches, and/or communities because these are the ideals Gustavus was founded upon,” said Gustavus president James Peterson.

“The fans get into it and the kids get a standing ovation every time — and kids getting a standing ovation is a pretty neat thing,” said Saints corporate sales director Matt Hansen.

The Saint’s home game schedule runs until August 29.

If you know of a junior high or high school student who deserves this award, please fill out an online form or contact the Saint Paul Saints.
