ST. PETER, Minn. (Jan. 7, 2004) — Josh Williams, co-president of Gustavus Adolphus College’s Student Senate, is participating in Project Interchange, an educational seminar where participants receive a firsthand, balanced perspective on current issues facing Israel. Williams is one of 12 delegates selected for this experience, taking place between Jan. 3 and Jan. 11.
This year the program, open to student body presidents from across the nation, received the most applications in its history. Founded in 1982, Project Interchange is the only national organization solely dedicated to providing educational seminars in Israel for America’s current and future policy makers.
Past participants in the program have included members of Congress, Homeland Security officials, congressional aides, Rhodes scholars, and counter-terrorism experts. During each seminar, participants receive a comprehensive overview of Israeli culture and politics. Through personal experience, participants build their own greater understanding of Israel, the Middle East, and the importance of the U.S.-Israeli relationship.
Williams, a senior communication studies major from Shakopee, Minn., is the first Gustavus student to be selected for this opportunity.
