  • Author and Yoga Instructor Coming to Gustavus

    Gustavus Adolphus College will welcome author and yoga instructor Matthew Sanford to campus April 18-19. Sanford is the author of Waking: A Memoir of Trauma and Transcendence, which chronicles his journey from an intensive care unit to becoming a paralyzed yoga teacher and founder of a nonprofit organization.

    Stephen Thompson, one of America’s leading experts on sexual assault, sexual harassment, and stalking, will speak at Gustavus Adolphus College on April 11. The event is open to the public and will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall, located in the O.J. Johnson Student Union.

    Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore Ashley Gibbs has been named a Jay and Rose Phillips Family Foundation Scholarship recipient for 2007-08 and 2008-09. Gibbs intends to develop a kindergarten readiness program for Latino children in Richfield.

  • Revised Museum Hours at Gustavus

    In conjunction with Spring Break at Gustavus Adolphus College, the school’s Hillstrom Museum of Art will be open limited hours. During the break, which runs from Friday, March 30 through Sunday, April 8, the Hillstrom Museum’s hours will be limited to 1—4 p.m. from Monday, April 2 through Thursday, April 5.

    Gustavus Adolphus College will hold its second Linnaeus Symposium on April 25. This year’s event, titled “Linnaeus @ 300,” was planned to correspond with the 300th anniversary of the birth of Carl Linnaeus, the Swedish botanist for whom the Gustavus arboretum is named.
