Professional singer and songwriter Neal Hagberg will present a series of homilies, titled “It’s Not as Simple as it Seems,” during the week of March 3 in Christ Chapel at Gustavus Adolphus College.
Hagberg is a 1981 graduate of Gustavus and one half of the successful folk duo Neal & Leandra. While the couple’s successful career has included the release of 11 albums and performances in 45 states and Canada, Hagberg is currently promoting his first solo album, titled It’s Not as Simple as it Seems.
“For the past few years, I have been writing a group of songs that don’t exactly fit in the Neal & Leandra repertoire and now they will see the light of day,” Hagberg writes on the couple’s website. “No topic is untouchable…The songs probe the moral dilemmas of life through story songs and a couple of satires.”
In addition to offering reflections and music at daily chapel on March 3, 4, 6 and 7 from 10 to 10:20 a.m., Hagberg will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. March 8 in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.
