Near perfect weather graced the Gustavus Adolphus College campus on Sunday, May 31 for the College’s 2015 commencement exercises. Six hundred and sixteen seniors walked across the stage and received their degrees at Hollingsworth Field.
Senior Rosalie Repke of Orono, Minn., gave this year’s commencement address. Anna M. Wiltse of Glenwood Springs, Col., received the R. John Van Deusen Award for persevering through extraordinary personal challenges to receive a college degree. Dr. David Obermiller, an associate professor in history, environmental studies, and Japanese studies received the Edgar M. Carlson Award for Distinguished Teaching. Vice President of Finance Ken Westphal received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.
Forty members of the Class of 2015 graduated Summa Cum Laude, meaning their cumulative grade point average was 3.900 or above. One hundred and twenty one students graduated Magna Cum Laude with a cumulative grade point average between 3.700 and 3.899. Another one hundred and nine students graduated Cum Laude with a cumulative grade point average between 3.500 and 3.699.
