Glen Lloyd, currently the assistant director of multicultural programs and the Diversity Center, will join the Office of Institutional Advancement at Gustavus Adolphus College as the Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement beginning December 4, 2013.
“I could not be happier to have Glen join our team and lead the Alumni and Parent Engagement office,” said Vice President for Institutional Advancement Thomas Young. “It’s great to bring someone on board who is living the Gustavus culture and knows the Gustavus ethos. Alumni and friends are going to love working with Glen.”
Lloyd brings with him skills in program development, fundraising, and volunteer leadership. As assistant director of the Diversity Center his portfolio included team building, program development, marketing initiatives, and college-wide communication and collaboration.
Prior to Gustavus, Lloyd worked for the YMCA, the Baptist Church, and St. Olaf College. In these jobs he was successful at developing and implementing programs, raising funds to support them, and inspiring groups of volunteers.
Chris Rasmussen ’88, president of the Gustavus Alumni Board, was a member of the committee that interviewed candidates for the director position. “Glen’s enthusiasm is contagious,” Rasmussen said. “He will bring a high level of energy to alumni programs and excitement and creative leadership to our class officer program.”
A native of Annandale, Va., Lloyd is a graduate of Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C., where he majored in communication arts and minored in political science. He found his way to Minnesota in the fall of 2006, working as the pastor of student ministries at the Emmaus Baptist Church and at the Northfield YMCA as a youth coordinator. In the spring of 2007 he took on an added job, joining the coaching staff of the Ole football team, and became an area coordinator within the Residence Life office at St. Olaf.
Following his five-year stint in Northfield, the opening in the Diversity and Multi-Cultural Office brought Lloyd to Gustavus in August of 2012. He lives in St. Peter and serves as an administrator-in-residence at the College. This fall Lloyd has also been seen on Hollingsworth Field, working with the Golden Gusties as the team’s wide receivers coach.
Lloyd is currently working toward his master’s degree in organizational leadership from Bethel University.
