James Trevathan ’14 Named Rossing Physics Scholar

Gustavus Adolphus College junior James Trevathan ’14 has been named a Rossing Physics Scholar for the 2013-14 academic year. The honor includes a $10,000 scholarship, which is made possible through generous gifts from Dr. Thomas D. Rossing, an accomplished physics scholar who chose to support the study of physics at colleges and universities affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) by providing scholarships and other financial aid to exemplary physics students.

Trevathan will add the Rossing Physics Scholarship to a growing list of accolades, which includes receiving a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship earlier this spring and a previously awarded scholarship from the Minnesota High Tech Association.

Trevathan, a physics major from Apple Valley Minn., has collaborated on research with several Gustavus faculty members, interned at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and plans to apply for a seven-year graduate school program at Mayo that would allow him to earn both an M.D. and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering.
