The Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies Program at Gustavus Adolphus College will host a free public screening of the award-winning film “Small, Beautifully Moving Parts” at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7 in the Nobel Hall of Science’s Wallenburg Auditorium.
Co-written and co-directed by Annie Howell and Lisa Robinson, “Small, Beautifully Moving Parts” won the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize at the 2011 Hamptons International Film Festival and was also part of the 2011 South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival lineup. The screening at Gustavus will be the film’s Minnesota premiere.
When technophile Sarah Sparks (Anna Margaret Hollyman) becomes pregnant, her uncertainties about motherhood trigger an impulsive road trip to the source of her anxiety: her long-estranged mother living far away and off-the-grid. The film takes a comic and poignant look at one woman’s coming-of-parenthood in the age of technology.
