St. Peter Community Childcare Center (SPCCC), Gustavus Adolphus College, and the City of Saint Peter are pleased to announce the expansion of St. Peter Community Childcare Center with an additional classroom site, to be located on the campus of Gustavus.
The expansion will add an additional infant/young toddler classroom site and allow for continued growth in pre-school enrollment at the current childcare center location at the St. Peter Community Center. The new site will be located behind the Arbor View Apartments, off Jefferson Avenue, and is anticipated to be open fall 2012.
“We are pleased to be able to provide a location for the expansion of St. Peter Community Childcare Center,” stated Gustavus President Jack R. Ohle. “Gustavus has been a longtime partner in support of child care for our community, and we are pleased that all the aspects have aligned so well to make this expansion possible.”
The new classroom building was donated by Gosewich Construction, and a grant from the Carl and Verna Schmidt Foundation will provide needed funds to move and install the classroom. The City of Saint Peter is facilitating the expansion through the Community Development and Planning and Zoning committees.
Stefanie Menning, SPCCC Board member and coordinator of the project, added, “The Arbor View site is ideal because the location already has utilities hook-ups installed and ample parking. We are very excited for the possibilities that this creates for the expansion of St. Peter Community Childcare Center,” added Menning. “We are thankful to all the parties who are working together to make this expansion become a reality that will provide increased access to quality childcare and early learning opportunities in our community.”
