Gustavus Adolphus College Vice President for Marketing and Communication Gwendolyn Freed will depart Gustavus to assume the position of Executive Director of Wallin Education Partners, effective July 1.

Based in Minneapolis, Wallin Education Partners promotes postsecondary access and success through scholarships and advising for high-potential students with financial need.  The organization was established by prominent business and community leader Winston Wallin and his wife, Maxine Wallin.  Over the past two decades, the Wallin family and a growing community of other individual donors, foundations, and corporations have invested $32 million to support thousands of scholars. These students come from Minnesota high schools and attend public and private four-year institutions throughout the upper Midwest as well as HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities).

Freed has served as Vice President for Marketing and Communication at Gustavus since December 2006.  During her time at the College, she led an unprecedented major market research and brand positioning effort, helped the institution gain wider visibility, served as legislative liaison for the College, and led the campus’s emergency communications team.  She is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy and Development at the University of Minnesota’s  College of Education and Human Development.

“Gwen has been a valued member of the President’s Cabinet and of the Gustavus community.  We will miss her and wish her our very best at Wallin Education Partners,” said President Jack R. Ohle.
