Center for Servant Leadership to Host Open House

Gustavus Adolphus College students and staff are encouraged to attend an open house for the new Center for Servant Leadership (CSL) from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 6. The CSL is located on the main floor of the O.J. Johnson Student Union.

Gustavus Adolphus College students and staff are encouraged to attend an open house for the new Center for Servant Leadership (CSL) from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 6. The CSL is located on the main floor of the O.J. Johnson Student Union.

The CSL intentionally co-locates and integrates the College’s Office of Church Relations, Center for Vocational Reflection, Community Service Center, and Career Center. The CSL will engage students, faculty, staff, alumni, congregational and community partners, and friends of the College. Offerings will include community-based service and learning, retreats, mini-courses, workshops, consultation sessions, internships, career explorations, and the like. The CSL will support vocational discernment, informed citizenship, critical and integrative thinking, and innovative solutions to significant challenges of our time.

Current Interim Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Jeffrey Stocco has been appointed Director of the CSL, effective June 1, 2011. The leaders of the CSL’s component programs, each of whom will serve as an Associate Director of the CSL, will be Jeffrey Rathlef, Director for Community-based Service and Learning; Rev. Grady St. Dennis, Director for Church Relations and Community Engagement; Christopher Johnson, Ph.D., Director for Vocation and Integrative Learning; and Cynthia Favre, Director for Career Development.

The April 6 open house will feature tours of the CSL’s new space as well as refreshments. A blessing of the space is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The CSL will officially host its grand opening at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9 in conjunction with the Gustavus Adolphus College Association of Congregations convention.
