The Winds of Christmas, an annual performance of the music of Christmas by the combined Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras, will be presented at the College’s morning worship service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, in Christ Chapel. The concert will be directed by Douglas Nimmo.
Following the busy weekend of Christmas in Christ Chapel which features 350 student musicians from the choirs and the symphony orchestra, the Winds of Christmas concert brings nearly 150 more musicians from the wind orchestras to Christ Chapel to share their talents and the music of Christmas.
Tuesday’s program will open with A Christmas Festival composed in 1950 by Leroy Anderson followed by David Holsinger’s heart-warming A Childhood Hymn. The program will conclude with the always popular collection of Christmas favorites, Home for Christmas, by John Higgins.
This event is free and open to the public.
