Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine recently released its Best Value in Private Colleges list for 2010-11. Gustavus Adolphus College ranked 47th on the list of 100 private liberal arts colleges in the nation.
Kiplinger’s describes the list as “the top schools that provide high-quality education at an affordable price.” Kiplinger’s rankings “measure academic quality and affordability, with quality accounting for two-thirds of the total.” The rankings also took into account things such as admission rate, ACT scores, students per faculty, graduation rate, and several financial aid figures.
“We are proud of our outstanding faculty and the excellent academic programs offered at Gustavus,” Gustavus President Jack R. Ohle said. “We also work with prospective students and their families to make a Gustavus education as affordable as possible.”
Gustavus was one of six Minnesota private colleges to make Kiplinger’s top 100. Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, Pa., topped the liberal-arts list.
