Ninety-five students from Gustavus Adolphus College will travel to three different locations to participate in a Habitat for Humanity work trip during the College’s Spring Break, March 27 through April 4.

Forty-one students will travel to Miami, Fla., 27 students will travel to New Orleans, La., and 27 students will travel to Laredo, Texas. This will be the first time a group from Gustavus will travel to Miami and Laredo, and the third time in the last four years that a group from Gustavus will travel to New Orleans.

The trip to Laredo is geared toward first-year students and has tie-ins with the College’s Reading in Common program and this year’s Reading in Common selection Enrique’s Journey. Students on the trip will have the opportunity to see first-hand where Enrique crossed the border into the United States.

Participants on the three trips will assist with the construction of houses including framing, sheet rocking, mudding and taping, painting, roofing, and siding.
