Women’s Hockey Clinches MIAC Title

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s hockey team clinched the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) championship Saturday afternoon with an 8-0 victory over Augsburg College at Don Roberts Ice Rink.

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s hockey team clinched the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) championship Saturday afternoon with an 8-0 victory over Augsburg College at Don Roberts Ice Rink.

Sophomore forwards Mollie Carroll and Allie Schwab each scored two goals in the victory. Sophomore goaltenders Danielle Justice and Emily Klatt combined to make nine saves to preserve the shutout.

This is the sixth straight MIAC title for the Gustavus women’s hockey team and the ninth title since women’s hockey became an official varsity sport during the 1998-99 season.

The win moves the Gusties’ record to 19-4-2 overall and 14-3-1 in MIAC play. They will be the No. 1 seed when the MIAC Playoffs begin on Tuesday, March 2. Gustavus will host a semifinal game at Don Roberts Ice Rink on Thursday, March 4.
