More than 700 high school speech competitors from approximately 125 high schools representing 33 different states will descend upon St. Peter and Gustavus Adolphus College for the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC) on May 9-11.

The Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Scandinavian Studies will welcome Swedish author Arne Dahl to campus May 10-17 as the College’s Out of Scandinavia Artist-in-Residence for 2014.

Three senior studio art majors at Gustavus Adolphus College will have their work displayed at the College’s Hillstrom Museum of Art beginning May 3 through June 1. The exhibition is titled Emergence and will feature an opening reception from 4 to 6 p.m. as part of the College’s Honors Day festivities on Saturday, May 3.

On Saturday, May 3, Gustavus Adolphus College will host Honors Day, an annual event that recognizes the academic excellence and achievement of hundreds of its students.

Gustavus Library Associates (GLA) will host its fourth annual Books in Bloom event at the Folke Bernadotte Memorial Library on May 2-4. The event is free and open to the public.

Gustavus Adolphus College has passed a historic milestone in philanthropic giving, as Campaign Gustavus has reached the $125 million mark toward its ambitious $150 million goal. The announcement was made at a donor recognition dinner on Friday, April 25, by the College’s Board of Trustees Chair George Hicks ’75.

The Rev. Wayne Peterson ’77, founding pastor of St. Barnabas Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Minn., received the 2014 Covenant Award at the 27th Annual Meeting of the Gustavus Adolphus College Association of Congregations on Saturday, April 26.

More than 230 registered guests convened on April 10 at the American Swedish Institute for the 4th annual Gustavus Women in Leadership Conference. This year’s attendees had a chance to network and listen to speakers like Margaret Anderson Kelliher ’90 and Sarah Cuthill ’95.
