Men’s Soccer Team to Host NCAA Tournament Matches This Weekend

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s soccer team has earned an at-large bid into the 2013 NCAA Division III Tournament. Gustavus will face the College of St. Scholastica (17-2-3) in the opening round on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11:00 a.m. on the Gustie Soccer Field.

Lowe Documentary Painting the Place Between to Premiere at Fitzgerald

Painting the Place Between, a new documentary film produced by Gustavus art professor Kristen Lowe, will premiere at St. Paul’s Fitzgerald Theatre on Friday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. A reception at 6:45 p.m. will allow members of the audience to meet the four artists featured in the documentary and to view their work prior to the premiere.

Give to Gustavus Day Exceeds Goal, Raising $65,446 for the Gustavus Annual Fund

The College is proud to announce that thanks to the generosity and dedication of many alumni, parents, and friends, Give to Gustavus Day raised a total of $65,446 for the Gustavus Annual Fund. The online giving campaign was held Wednesday, Nov. 13, with a goal of raising $24,000 in 24 hours.

Glen Lloyd Named Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement

Glen Lloyd, currently the assistant director of multicultural programs and the Diversity Center, will join the Office of Institutional Advancement at Gustavus Adolphus College as the Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement beginning December 4, 2013.

18th A Royal Affair to Benefit Library

Gustavus Library Associates (GLA) will host its 18th biennial library fundraiser event, A Royal Affair, Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Radisson Blu Mall of America. This dinner and auction event will benefit the endowment fund of the Folke Bernadotte Memorial Library on the Gustavus campus.

Dan Dewey ’93 to Receive GACAC Service Award

Dr. Daniel Dewey ’93 will receive the 2013 Gustavus Adolphus College Association of Congregations and Alumni Service Award on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. during the College’s Daily Sabbath service in Christ Chapel. Dr. Dewey is recognized for his vision and leadership in co-founding World Altering Medicine, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing medical care for needy patients in resource poor areas of the developing world.

American Indian Activist to Speak at Gustavus

Clyde Bellecourt, Native American civil rights leader and co-founder of the American Indian Movement (AIM), will speak at Gustavus Adolphus College at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11 in Alumni Hall. Bellecourt’s lecture is titled “The American Indian Movement: Past, Present, and Future,” and is free and open to the public.
