The website BestCollegesOnline.com released its list of the top 10 colleges and universities that “Get Greek Life Right,” earlier this month. Gustavus Adolphus College and its Greek organizations were ranked No. 6 on the list.
The website said it chose schools where fraternities and sororities are “tightly regulated, inclusive, and focus on academics and social work…and are positive both for students and for the campus as a whole.”
The website’s list of ten schools is available online.
What Gustavus Greeks Are Saying:
“Our three pillars as a Greek community are leadership, service, and scholarship, and I think that all of our organizations are dedicated to upholding and exemplifying these values. I’ve never seen students so passionate about philanthropy as are the Greek students here. We truly strive to be leaders in our community and we have fun doing it.”
-Katie Volney ’13, Tau Mu Tau Sorority
“My experience being Greek at Gustavus has been wonderful because of the opportunities for leadership, service, and community-building it has provided me. As a member of Sigma Sigma Simga sorority, I have gained opportunities to get more involved in the St. Peter community through service projects. The sorority also funded my trip to Illinois in January to attend a leadership training and development conference.”
-Sarah Lucht ’13, Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority
“My favorite part about being a part of the Greek community at Gustavus is definitely being able to meet people with a wide array of personalities. I’ve been able to become really good friends with guys in my fraternity and people in other Greek organizations whom I most likely would never have come in contact with otherwise. In addition to this, I have been able to receive grants and scholarships through our headquarters and have been given numerous opportunities to attend various leadership conferences.”
-Tyler Mulcahey ’13, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity
“Gustavus Greek members are as passionate about Greek life as they are about academics, athletics, and plenty of other extra-curriculars that all take large precedence in their lives. The opportunities that leaders have to attend national leadership conferences as well as work at a community-based level in organizing educational events and community service events is an advantageous edge that we are proud to be a part of.”
–Emily Batchelder ’13, Theta Xi Gamma Sorority
