Rev. Sabina Koij to Join Ministry Team as Visiting Chaplain

Rev. Rodney Anderson, Interim Senior Chaplain at Gustavus, announced today that The Rev. Sabina Koij, a minister of the Lutheran Church of Sweden, serving as a pastor at Storkyrkan, the Cathedral of Stockholm, has accepted a two-year position as Visiting Chaplain at Gustavus Adolphus College.

Gustavus to Screen Documentary on Human Sex Trafficking

Gustavus Adolphus College will host a screening of the documentary Nefarious: Merchant of Souls at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 25 in Alumni Hall. Nefarious is being shown as part of a national tour to raise awareness for human sex trafficking.

Junior Marah Sobczak Earns Elite 89 Award

Gustavus Adolphus junior goaltender Marah Sobczak (Lake Elmo, Minn.) was named the winner of the 2012 Elite 89 Award at the NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey Championship banquet held Thursday, March 15 in Rochester, New York. The award honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average participating at the finals site of each NCAA Championship.

Education Under Fire Event Scheduled for March 23

Education Under Fire, a campaign sponsored by Amnesty International, will have representatives at Gustavus Adolphus College for an event at 7 p.m. Friday, March 23 in Alumni Hall. The event, which addresses educational freedom in Iran, will include two speakers, a 30-minute documentary, and audience discussion.

Ceder and Kruckeberg Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships

Gustavus Adolphus College student-athletes Ben Ceder (men’s soccer) and Brad Kruckeberg (football) have been selected to receive postgraduate scholarships from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Two Authors to Speak on Campus March 26

Gustavus Looks Ahead to 48th Nobel Conference

Top researchers in biogeochemistry, oceanography, deep-sea biology, molecular genetics, and coral ecology are coming together on Oct. 2-3, 2012, for “Our Global Ocean,” the 48th annual Nobel Conference at Gustavus Adolphus College. They will meet to discuss the marine realm: what we know, what we don’t know, and how we humans rely upon healthy vibrant seas.

Gusties Spend a Day at the Capitol

A group of approximately 25 Gustavus Adolphus College students and staff, including President Jack R. Ohle, traveled north to St. Paul on Wednesday, March 14 to advocate for need-based student financial aid through the Minnesota State Grant Program.
