Forensics Team Wins State Championship

The Gustavus Adolphus College forensics team won its fourth Minnesota Collegiate Forensics Association state championship on Sunday, Feb. 19 at Bethel University in Arden Hills, Minn. The Gusties won the overall team sweepstakes by totaling 494 points to beat its closest competitor by 161 points.

Women’s Swimming Captures Third Straight MIAC Title

The Gustavus Adolphus College women's swimming and diving team captured its third consecutive MIAC Championship over the weekend by compiling 687 points during the three-day event at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

Women’s Basketball Hosts Play 4Kay Breast Cancer Awareness Game

The Gustavus women’s basketball team will host its Play 4Kay Breast Cancer Awareness game Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. against Bethel University. Funds from tickets purchased by those wearing pink will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

New Exhibitions at Hillstrom Museum Open Feb. 20

The Hillstrom Museum of Art at Gustavus Adolphus College will open two concurrent exhibitions on Monday, Feb. 20, including Reflections & Undercurrents: Ernest Roth and Printmaking in Venice, 1900-1940, and Now and Then: Works by Studio Art Faculty, Past and Present. They will remain on view through April 22 and are free and open to the public.

Gusties Support Special Olympics Minnesota

Dozens of Gustavus Adolphus College students spent the weekend of Feb. 11-12 volunteering and helping to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota.

Poetry Reading to Feature Angela Shannon

Gustavus Adolphus College will welcome Minnesota author and poet Angela Shannon to campus for a poetry reading on Thursday, Feb. 23. Shannon will read from her selection of poems between 7-9 p.m. in the Melva Lind Interpretive Center.

Men’s Basketball Clinches Share of MIAC Title

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's basketball team clinched at least a share of the MIAC regular season title on Wednesday night with a 61-43 victory over Concordia College in Moorhead. The victory keeps the Gusties one game ahead of St. Thomas for first place in the conference standings with one game to play.

Gavin DeGraw in Concert at Gustavus April 13

The Campus Activities Board at Gustavus Adolphus College has announced that singer, songwriter, and musician Gavin DeGraw will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Friday, April 13 inside Lund Arena.

Day at the Capitol Scheduled for March 14

On Wednesday, March 14, Gustavus students and financial aid supporters will travel to St. Paul to meet with state legislators to show continued support and appreciation for the Minnesota State Grant program. One quarter of Gustavus students receive need-based aid through the program each year.

Obituary: Professor Emeritus Vic Gustafson (1917-2012)

Professor Emeritus and Hall of Fame men's swimming coach Vic Gustafson '42 passed away on Thursday, Feb. 9 at the age of 95. He served as swimming coach at Gustavus from 1945-77 and his teams won eight MIAC championships, including five straight from 1956-60.
