Move-in day welcomng part of that something special at Gustavus
by Tanner Kent
ST PETER — There’s just something about Gustavus.
That indefinable something is articulated a bit differently by each student, but generally boils down to this:
“I just knew it felt right,” said Nate Schleif, a Cambridge native and biochemistry major who was among the hundreds that moved into the Gustavus Adolphus College dormitories during move-in day on Friday.
“It was more about a feeling than something I could measure.”
Schleif chose Gustavus from a selection of some of Minnesota’s top-notch liberal arts schools, including St. Olaf, Macalester and Hamline. He visited the campus three times and is now among an incoming class of more than 760 students, a historically large class that coincides with Gustavus’ year-long celebration of its 150th anniversary.
