The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s golf team took second place at the Division III NCAA Championships, which were held at Mission Inn Resort in Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida. Friday’s fourth and final round was canceled due to inclement weather. Gustavus finished 12 strokes behind Methodist University, which secured its 14th straight Division III title.
Gustavus finished with a 54-hole total score of 978 after rounds of 322, 333, and 323. Methodist posted scores of 318, 319 and 329 for a final score 966. Illinois Wesleyan placed third with a team score of 991 (332-333-326).
Gustavus senior Katie Schenfeld finished in a tie for third in the individual standings. Schenfeld posted rounds of 80, 83, and 76 on the Par 73 course for a three-round score of 239 (+20).
Gustavus junior Rikka Holiday also placed in the top 10 individually by tying for sixth place. Holiday posted scores of 77, 83, and 82 for a three-round total of 242 (+23).
Junior Annie Jackson finished in a tie for 23rd place with a three-round total of 250 (+31). Sophomore Kayleigh Dittes finished in a tie for 26th place with a total score of 251 (+32). Junior Taylor Drenttel finished in a tie for 31st place with a total score of 253 (+34).
