Gustavus Adolphus College’s annual Diversity Week will take place April 26-29 and is themed “Reth!nking Diversity Beyond What We Know.” A public speaking appearance by Executive Director of the Greater Mankato Diversity Council Bukata Hayes on Wednesday, April 27 is the featured event of the week.
Prior to joining the Greater Mankato Diversity Council in 2006, Hayes served as the Coordinator of the Multi Ethnic Center at Bethany Lutheran College, the first-ever position of its kind at that institution. Hayes holds a B.A. in exercise physiology from the College of St. Scholastica and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in sociology from Minnesota State University, Mankato. He is a member or on the board of numerous organizations including the Mankato Kiwanis Diversity Club, Mankato-organizing Chapter of the NAACP, Mankato Family YMCA, Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Board, and Latin American Multicultural Association for Networking and Opportunity.
