Minneapolis based bands Quietdrive and Cedar Avenue will appear in concert at Gustavus Adolphus College’s Alumni Hall at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 16. Tickets are now on sale to the general public for $5 at gustavustickets.com. Gustavus students and staff are allotted one complimentary ticket.
Quietdrive, an alternative rock band, formed in 2002 and released their debut album When All That’s Left Is You in 2006. Included on the album is a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s song “Time After Time.” The song became a minor hit on pop radio, hitting No. 23 on the syndicated American Top 40 countdown show. The group has released three albums since then including Deliverance in 2008, Close Your Eyes in 2009 and their self-titled album Quietdrive in 2010. The band, which features Kevin Truckenmiller on lead vocals, has toured extensively in the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan and has also played numerous concerts for U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Cedar Avenue is an up-and-coming pop rock band that formed in 2005 and features lead vocalist Jesse Mathews. The group has enjoyed increased visibility after its song “7 Years” was featured on the ABC police-drama Rookie Blue and included on the popular Cities 97 Sampler Vol. 22. The group released its debut album Someday Soon in December 2009 and has since opened for acts such as Augustana, A Fine Frenzy, Hanson, and Graham Colton.
Doors will open for the concert at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Gustavus Campus Activities Board. For questions or more information, contact Gustavus student Matthew Wasson at mwasson@gustavus.edu.
